
Umama Khursheed- Supervising Social Worker
Umama Khursheed is a registered social worker with an M.A. in Social Work and a B.A. in Psychology (Honours), both from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. She brings extensive experience in child protection, safeguarding, and assessment, having worked across community, organisational, and clinical settings in India.
Her practice in India spans across direct work with children and families, care planning, multi-agency collaboration, and crisis intervention, with a particular focus on the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people. Umama has also contributed significantly to professional development, designing and delivering trauma-informed training and safeguarding workshops for frontline workers, police, and child protection professionals.
Her research on child marriage, published in the International Journal of Law, Management & Humanities (2024), reflects her commitment to examining the structural and systemic issues affecting children and communities. This work adds an evidence-based dimension to her practice and underscores her broader interest in policy, rights, and advocacy.
Umama is passionate about creating safe, supportive environments for children and families and brings both professional rigour and genuine personal commitment to her work. She looks forward to continuing to grow her practice and contributing meaningfully to her new team.
