Foster care training is an essential component of being a foster carer. We acknowledge that each foster carer has a unique mix of talents and life experiences that allow them to understand young people and be supportive foster carers at Nationwide Fostering. We also feel that all foster parents may benefit from specialised training, whether it’s in areas like health and safety or how to deal with difficult behavior.
Foster Care Training Courses
Nationwide Fostering offers a comprehensive training and workshop programme to our foster carers after they have been approved, in addition to completing the Skills to Foster training as part of the evaluation process.
This gives them the opportunity to gain all of the abilities they’ll need to be even better at caring for children and teenagers.
The courses we offer include, but aren’t limited to:
• Attachment Theory
• Parent and Child Foster Placements
• Remand Fostering
• Working together professional
• Communicating and recording
• Safer Caring

• Managing challenging behavior

• And many more …
Why foster care training matters
We understand that fostering can be difficult at times and that it is a serious commitment.
As a result, we wish to provide our foster caregivers with every opportunity to advance in their fields. It’s also critical that we arm them with the resources they’ll need to overcome any challenges that may occur. We assist our foster carers in meeting the Children’s Workforce Development Council’s induction requirements (TSDS). We also offer the option of completing an NVQ level three course in ‘children and young people.’ Please contact the staff at Nationwide Fostering if you have any questions regarding the foster care training we provide, or if you’d want to learn more about becoming a foster parent. We’d be happy to help.
