Emergency placements, scheduled placements, and more specialised types of foster care, such as therapeutic fostering and remand fostering, are all available through Nationwide Fostering. Depending on the needs of the individual kid, the type of fostering we provide differs from case to case. If you’re considering about becoming a foster carer but aren’t sure whether sort of fostering is right for you, think about your skills and experience, as well as what would be best for you and your family.
Here are some of the different foster care services offered by Nationwide Fostering – you may find that different fostering providers have different names for some of them.
Emergency Placements
This is a placement that is made within 24 hours of a request and where no prior plans have been established. For extreme instances like these, Nationwide Fostering offers a 24-hour emergency assistance. An emergency placement should not last more than two weeks.
Short-term fostering & bridging placements
This is a type of fostering that lasts for a shorter period of time. In a bridge placement, a child or young person may be awaiting a more permanent placement, such as a long-term foster home or a family evaluation centre. This form of fostering arrangement might last anywhere from a few days to several weeks or months while plans for the child’s future are arranged with the appropriate local authorities or social services departments.
Parent and Child Placements
This form of fostering arrangement is for young adults who have become parents at an early age and require help caring for their own child. On behalf of the Local Authority, support, observation, and assessment activities can be done. Qualified personnel can prepare court reports and statements if necessary.
Therapeutic fostering
Many impaired adolescents and teenagers are in need of a foster family. Children with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, sensory impairments, or a mix of these can be included in this category. Carers with experience caring for children and young people who are disabled or require specialised medical care are available through Nationwide Fostering.
Respite placements
Respite arrangements are available to allow parents or other foster carers a break or to provide additional support if they do not have their own support system in place.
Remand Placements
Foster should be remanded. Young persons who have been remanded into the custody of the courts are looked after by carers. These are usually short-term placements that need the caregiver to collaborate closely with the youth justice/offending teams in order to achieve the best possible outcome for the kid.
Planned Placements
Nationwide Fostering also offers planned fostering arrangements, in which we plan a placement ahead of time to ensure the greatest possible placement for the child. If you’d like to learn more about any of these sorts of fostering, or if you require a fostering service that isn’t included here, please contact the Nationwide Fostering team, and we’ll do everything we can to assist you.
